Principal's Message
Mr. Patrick Gallivan

Dear Parents:

To make it more convenient for parents to drop off and pick up children, I have moved the bus loading area ahead.  Please be cautious as to not drop off or pick up your children in the crosswalk or bus loading area.  We always want to ensure our students safety.  With this in mind, only staff are allowed to pick up students from the classroom.  If you have a student that needs to leave school early, please stop by the office for assistance.

I have also purchased Visitor Badges for our school.  If you are visiting a classroom or attending a meeting at school, please register at the sign in desk and wear the Visitor Badge while you are in the building.  These minor changes will help make our school a safer place for children.

Yours in Christ,

Mr. Patrick Gallivan

All School
Scrip!  Have you participated in our Scrip program?  If not, now's a great time to join in. We are having a Holiday Scrip Contest.  Our goal is to raise $5,000 by December 25th and it won’t cost you one penny to participate!  All you do is purchase gift certificates for things you normally buy, such as groceries and gas, through our school Scrip program.  The school receives a percentage of each dollar of Scrip sold.  The Scrip order form is available on Downloads.  We are counting on your support to reach our goal!  Thank you.

Middle School News
The first edition of this years Messenger was just released.  Our thanks to the 8th grade class for a job well done.  Mrs. Khoshnevis has stepped into the role of facilitator and turned the editing, publication and planning to the 8th grade class.  They have certainly produced an outstanding product and the quality of the newspaper speaks to the hard work they put into it.   Our next edition is due for publication December 11th and the 7th grade class will be the featured journalists in this edition.  Please feel free to send any comments to Mrs. Khoshnevis to share with our newspaper staff.

Elementary School News
The teachers are developing a new publication utilizing the 6 Trait model which breaks writing into Ideas – Organization – Voice – Sentence Fluency – Word Choice – Conventions.   Students are then taught to focus on one step at a time.  Be sure to ask your students about the writing they are doing.  This will be an exciting and vibrant experience for all the elementary students and a means of showcasing the excellent work our students do.

Virtus Training and Background Checks
It is a requirement by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis that all school and parish volunteers attend a VIRTUS, “Protecting God’s Children for Adults” class.  This session completes the volunteer background check that many of you have already completed.
All adults working with students & chaperones must attend a session!
Please register online at http://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/ for the class.

All Chaperones and School Volunteers will be required to complete a course before chaperoning any events or volunteering at school for the 2008-2009 school year.
